Gulfcoast Networking can’t afford to spends millions of dollars on TV ads hawking some “free” service. We could afford to register “screwupmypc.com” and point it here to warn you about these scams.
Be very leary of the TV ads you see that offer to fix your computer or speed up your computer with a simply and free download. They have cute names like “screwupmypc.com” and often show testimonials from actors claiming how much faster their machines are now or maybe a big pile of junk computers, implying that your machine is headed for the junk heap if you don’t call them right away. Don’t fall for bogus testimonials and scare tactics.
There is ALWAYS a catch and the catch is often a misleading identification of non-existent problems and an offer to fix your computer for an outrageous fee. Don’t be fooled. We have heard reports of offers to fix problems for “only” $299.95.
The same goes for folks who call you up on the phone claiming to be from Microsoft and offering to disinfect your machine for only $299.95. Hang up the phone.
If you are interested in having your computer checked out remotely, give us a call. Gulfcoast Networking offers remote support options that are affordable and we are right here with a real storefront and shop if you need something done beyond what can be done online.
